The protagonist of the Google Doodle of April 14, 2012 is the French humanist photographer Robert Doisneau, which marks the centenary of the birth. Notable teacher of photography, Doisneau is considered one of the greatest exponents of the so-called "humanistic photography", which is the kind of visual sensitivity that focuses on the worst-of man in society. The favorite subject of this artist was the city of Paris. 

Born and raised in Paris, Robert Doisneau was always fascinated by this city, so that made ​​it his favorite subject. His photographic production is characterized by a series of innovative shots, brilliant and dominated by a strong human: they are images that have made him famous. But it is never a conventional Paris, but a small people of Paris, the accordion tunes, adults and children, whose eyes exude humanity and tenderness.His best known work is "Kiss front of the hotel de Ville", a photograph, taken in 1950, depicting a pair of boys kissing along the bustling streets of Paris. This pair remained anonymous until 1993, when, following a complaint received by a couple, the photographer was forced to admit that the two characters of the play was Françoise Bornet and Jacques Carteaud, two actors and models.

Notevole maestro di fotografia, Doisneau è considerato uno dei massimi esponenti della cosiddetta “fotografia umanista”, ossia quel tipo di sensibilità visiva che pone l’accento sulla condizione disagiata dell’uomo nella società. Il soggetto preferito da questo artista era la città di Parigi.

 Nato e cresciuto a Parigi, Robert Doisneau è sempre stato affascinato da questa città, tanto che ne fece il suo soggetto preferito. La sua produzione fotografica è caratterizzata da una serie di scatti innovativi, geniali e dominati da una forte carica umana: sono le immagini che lo hanno reso celebre. Ma non si tratta mai di una Parigi convenzionale, bensì di una Parigi di piccola gente, di arie di fisarmonica, di grandi e bambini, i cui sguardi trasudano umanità e tenerezza. La sua opera più conosciuta è “Bacio davanti all’hotel De Ville”, una foto, scattata nel 1950, che ritrae una coppia di ragazzi che si baciano lungo le caotiche vie di Parigi. Questa coppia rimase anonima fino al 1993, quando, in seguito a una denuncia ricevuta da una coppia, il fotografo fu costretto ad ammettere che i due personaggi dell’opera erano Françoise Bornet e Jacques Carteaud, due attori e modelli..
